RSPCA WEST HATCH
Virtual Tour 25 -
Hen house
Return to Virtual Tour
The chicken house at West Hatch is
situated outside the cattery, and can hold up to 50 chickens at a time. The
house was built by our own maintenance man John Sutton.
We quite often have larger numbers of
chickens coming through the centre, as we take ex battery hens that have been
rescued by other organisations. When they arrive at the centre they hardly
know how to stand up, but within hours they are starting to act like normal
chickens.
As you can see from the last picture
nothing stands empty for long! If we don't have chickens in our pen it gets
grabbed by the cattery staff and volunteers, to allow the cats a bit of one to
one attention and a change of scenery.
