We have a block of 2 stables at West Hatch, with a
tack room and hay shed attached.
Behind this we have a small paddock, and next to
this another paddock with a field shelter.
These stables were put in place to allow us to
take horses and ponies from the inspectorate. They often get called to cases
of neglect and need somewhere to place the animals while they recuperate.
We also re-home quite a few goats through the
centre when the stables do not have horses or ponies in them.
Caring for larger animals can take up quite a bit
of the staffs time each day, as the stables need to be mucked out daily,
animals groomed, and all the muck in the fields cleared.
